Project Overview

In 2024, a solar tracker OEM required durable, maintenance-friendly motion components for a dual-axis tracker field exposed to high winds, dust, and temperature extremes.

Implementation

Ground-hardened rack-and-pinion drives handled azimuth rotation for long service life. Planetary reducers were paired with DC servo motors for elevation control, and electric cylinders provided mechanical tracking lock during high-wind events.

Results

• Tracking accuracy ±0.3°
• Energy yield improvement of 8–12% over fixed-tilt systems
• Designed for 25-year service life
